What are ESG voting rights?

ESG stands for environmental, social and governance – it’s a way of measuring whether member investments in companies are doing good things or bad things for, say, climate change, gender equality, human rights or animal welfare.   Through our clever app, our members can vote on those issues that matter the most to them. The app will let them know when there are up-and-coming shareholder proposals that relate to ESG issues and give them a chance to have their say*.

Once closed, the overall voting results will be shared with our members, so they can see the difference their investments are making.

* Our members get a voice about these issues because they are indirect shareholders. After placing 'vote preference' on a proposal, the fund manager (the person who manages these investments) reviews the results and puts the official (legal) vote forward at the AGM.
